Every Nonprofit and Community Foundation Board Member Has the Opportunity to Benefit from Fiduciary Essentials® Training

In a recent virtual Fiduciary Essentials® Training for Community Foundations with the Ventura County Community Foundation (VCCF), FiduciaryPath had the distinct pleasure of helping the community foundation’s board members capture critical elements of being a fiduciary. Established in 1987, the VCCF has successfully built philanthropy in their region by stewarding legacies through careful management of the charitable capital entrusted to them. Many of the VCCF’s seasoned colleagues bring decades of experience protecting endowments and connecting benevolent resources with community needs.

Kate McBride, President and Founder of FiduciaryPath, LLC, an Accredited Investment Fiduciary Analyst® (AIFA®), and CEFEX Analyst with the Centre for Fiduciary Excellence and Allan Henriques, JD, AIFA®, and CEFEX Analyst and founder of Allan Henriques Fiduciary Consultants, which FiduciaryPath recently acquired, led this online course. They taught participants their fiduciary responsibilities, why they are so important, what steps to take in fulfilling their fiduciary role and where to find prudent experts to assist them on some of your fiduciary duty.

Following the board’s first-ever virtual training, Vanessa Bechtel, President & CEO, VCCF shared, “Kate and Allan are such a great team together. Their robust training captured the critical elements of being a fiduciary required for us to meet our mission while protecting our assets.”

“I have been on boards for more than 30 years and I had no idea of all these responsibilities,” shared one board member.

FiduciaryEssentials® for Community Foundations is designed for trustees, board members, and administrators of nonprofits and community foundations. Trainees receive a Certificate of Completion and valuable knowledge of their legal fiduciary responsibilities. The online training is divided into two half-day programs and is an efficient way to join in an interactive learning environment without incurring the time and cost of traveling.

“Trustees, boards and other nonprofit officials are under more scrutiny than ever by regulators, donors and other stakeholders,” Kate McBride noted. “Our online, virtual training provides a path for board members and other representatives to get up to speed quickly on the fiduciary knowledge they need to effectively lead their organizations in these challenging times.”

“We only hope every non-profit board member has the opportunity to benefit from the Fiduciary Essentials® training,” summarized Vanessa Bechtel.
