What is a Fiduciary?
A fiduciary is a person who holds a legal or ethical relationship of trust when entrusted with someone else’s money or property. A fiduciary must avoid conflicts of interest and self-dealing. A fiduciary must act solely in the interest of the person or organization who entrusted them with that money or property. Not all investment professionals are fiduciaries. When someone manages the assets of your organization and is not required to act as a fiduciary with the assets you’ve entrusted to them, you and your organization may be at risk, personally and institutionally, if the assets are not invested prudently. If you’re not sure whether you have fiduciaries working on your investments, call us. We can diagnose quickly and help fix cure this issue.
You don’t have to know everything about investing, but you do have understand your responsibilities and how to choose prudent experts – professional fiduciaries – to help you.
